It is the checkpoint called Gisht Koprik, along the road going from Shymkent (Шымкент), the third most populous city in Kazakhstan, to Tashkent (Тошкент), capital of Uzbekistan. Tashkent is just beyond the borderline.
I wonder what is the name of Tashkent in Kazakh language. Sometime 2 border cities have the same name for example Görlitz, Germany and Zgorzelec, Poland or Cieszyn, Poland and Těšín, Czech republic.
Tashkent is Тошкент (Toskent) in Uzbek and Тaшкент (Tashkent) either in Kazakh or in Russian. I do not know this town, but from Google maps (click here to see) it seems it is entirely inside Uzbekistan.
