Interesting: a border right in the middle of a town ... I guess they are happy with the Schengen agreement nowadays.
Excellont note. The Schengen agreement has helped some ancient towns (now divided) to find again a union. It is the case of Walk (now Valga-EE + Valka-LV), Görz (now Gorizia-IT + Nova Gorica-SI), Komorn (now Komárom-HU + Komárno-SK) etc.
