It was the ending part of Caprivi Stip. In short, the attempt of the Germans to connect their South-Western Africa (nowadays Namibia) with Eastern Africa (after Tanganyika and nowadays Tanzania), at the time of colonialism. Also Portugal tried to connect Angola with Mozambique, but the British only had been smart and realized a territorial continuity in this area (Northern Rhodesia/Zambia, Southern Rhodesia/Zimbabwe, Bechuanaland/Botswana).
