I notice the landmark is fenced. Is that to prevent wild animals (e.g. elephants) from pushing it over?
Yes it is. In the Kalahari Desert these fences just protect uncontrolled migrations of animals. Such a system was also adopted along the border between New South Wales and Queensland (Australia) , to protect the cows from dingos.
